Hibernation Inquiry
There are a lot of animal fans in my classroom, so once winter hit a hibernation inquiry was all too fitting.
I typically start my inquiries with a classic KWL (know, wonder, learn) chart and as a class we fill it in with our current knowledge and burning questions.
There are so many fantastic books both fiction and non-fiction that you can read through with your class regarding hibernating animals. While “The Very Cranky Bear” by Nick Bland is not brimming with educational information it is easily my favourite hibernation focused book and my kids love it. So I read through this book first and followed it up with several non-fiction texts found on Epic.
To minimize my time finding materials and reduce prep work I have slowly started converting many of my common inquiries to digital and printable formats. This hibernation inquiry resource includes interactive activities, teaching slides that discuss hibernation, migration, adaptation, and various hibernating animals, as well as fun printable tasks.
